The latest K-pop star that is at the peak of her career seems to be Park Bom of the idol group 2NE1. Her second solo digital single, Don’t Cry, was released on April 21 and it shot to the top of major online music charts, giving her an ‘all kill’.
She swept the top spot on Soribada, Melon, Dosirak, M.NET, Bugs, Monkey3 and other Korean music charts, without much promotion and no appearances on music shows, thus proving her popularity.
It was revealed that she was so overwhelmed by the pressure and relief that she started crying while on the phone thanking Teddy, who produced the song.
She has released a music video to accompany her single, and it has so far reached 1.4 million views on 2NE1’s YouTube channel. From what I gathered from watching the video, it has something to do with two lovers separated by death, with the guy coming back as a blue butterfly to ensure his lover that he will forever love her. Do check out the music video of Don’t Cry.
The song has a fast and catchy beat, with piano sounds tinkling in the background, complimenting Park Bom’s vocals which have an echo-filled ring to them.
Since she’s spearheading the release of 2NE1’s new album with her solo single, she has a huge burden on her shoulders. Her effort has finally paid back, and hopefully she continues to produce wonderful music for all her fans out there.
The author was first introduced to Park Bom when she released her first solo single, You & I, in 2010.
