2PM: Boys Turned 'Grown' Up Men

The boys (or rather, men) of 2PM are finally back with their 3rd album titled Grown! Their last one 'Hands Up' was released in 2011, which was around 2 years ago!

This time round, the boys showed how much they have 'grown' over the past 2 years by showcasing a more matured and sexier image, which I found did reflect the title of their album very well.

And I bet many fan girls would agree that the second cover looks greater huh? With all that hot hunks' six packs, I'm sure many of the fans would swoon once they get their hands on the album!

There are 2 singles which I think are the title tracks off the album, since they shot music videos for them and are currently promoting them on live music shows.

The first is Come Back When You Hear This Song, a track that starts off sounding like a ballad, then picks up into a mid-tempo dance number.

While there are some reviews that said the dance moves seem a little musical or theatrical and look out of place, somehow I find that they executed the moves well and it seamlessly fits with the mood of the song.

Check out the music video for 'Come Back When You Hear This Song' which will get you singing to the chorus "I norael deutgo dorawa, dorawa...," in no time! Look out for the 7 sins in the video too!

Next up is All Day I Think Of You (what's with all the long and mouthful titles this time round, JYP?). This song is quite a mix of rapping, slow ballad like parts, as well as synthesized voices.

What I love most is the part where they all sat down on chairs and snap their fingers while swinging one leg. So swag!!

Check out the sexy music video for 'All Day I Think Of You' below!

Otherwise, the rest of the album is still pretty good for those looking for a album for easy listening as most tracks are quite tuned down, with a couple of ballads here and there.

I shall be looking forward to catch their sexy live performances on television one of these days!

The author is loving the new concept for 2PM's comeback. What about you?

K-pop Stars' LINE Official Account ID For Blackberry Users

If you are a K-pop fan and you happen to own a Blackberry, I'm sure you've had your fair share of frustrations about the issue of not being able to add the Official Account of your favourite K-pop star.

Usually iPhone and Android users just have to check under the list of Official Accounts and do some changes to their country selection, while Windows phone users encounter similar problems with Blackberry users but can overcome the problem if they find the QR code to add the stars' Official Accounts, but take note that all these do not apply for users of Blackberry devices.

Well, I for one, underwent a long and arduous time to find the LINE ID of my favourite idol group, JYJ. After countless hours spent researching on the issue and chatting with fellow Blackberry users, along with filling a couple of feedback forms to LINE about the issue, I've come up with some solutions!

2PM Is Back To Put Your 'Hands Up'

The boys of 2PM have released yet another album filled with dance tracks, and this time they are back with a more energetic and mood-uplifting sound as opposed to their previous which were mellower and darker.

The first track off the album is Hands Up, which has shot up to the top of various music charts upon its release. Addictive with a repetitive chorus, by the second time you play the second song, you’ll be able to at least sing along with the chorus part that goes “Everyone put your hands up and get your drinks up” and “Put your hands up, put your hands up”.

Wonder Girls’ fans will be excited to know that Sohee lent a hand in creating this track and also she had an ad lib somewhere around the 2:00 mark. Do watch out for it. Meanwhile, watch 2PM’s music video for Hands Up where they go clubbing!

The second track Electricity is a techno number which is slightly on the mellow side. Upon my first listen, I didn’t quite like it but after repeated listening, I came to like it even more. The opening lines in English are great and show how much they have matured, and it goes “Come here, come here, let me move your body baby”. I also love Chansung’s part where he sings “Ja shijak handa, Jashi jak handa, Jashi jak han da ja, One Two Three”. Fans of the drama Dream High would be excited to learn that this track was featured on one of the episodes of the drama before, but did not appear on the soundtrack album.

Give It To Me is a track composed by Junho is a ballad which showcases the vocals of the six members, providing a nice break from the two dance tracks. Followed by Just Like The Movies, the next track is a soft and slow number that shows that 2PM can also challenge other idol groups who are in the ballad genre.

Don’t You Know is very much a summer-feel song that harks back to their Fly to Seoul days. Sounding very much like K-pop material, this song gives off a happy and uplifting mood.

Hot is the last of the new tracks on this album, and is composed by Junsu. There are many elements of electro-twirls in this techno and upbeat song, and is the perfect song to dance away in a club.

Tracks on this album includes previously released songs such as Without You, I’ll Be Back, I Can’t, Thank You, Don’t Stop Can’t Stop as well as the remixed version of Hands Up and Electricity.

The author started listening to 2PM when members Taecyeon and Wooyoung were featured in the K-drama Dream High.

Dream High: An Idol Feast For Your K-Drama Addiction

Usually I would prefer watching historical or family-based Korean dramas, but this time round I was anticipating the premiere of Dream High, a drama based on an art school for student who are groomed to be idols.

Since the hype surrounding the idol cast for the drama made it to the headlines of many K-pop related websites way before the drama was slated to air on Korea's KBS network, I like many other K-drama fans have been following the progress of the drama all the way through since filming started.

Dream High had proved that it was a drama not to be missed, albeit a slow start in the first episode. The main characters in this drama are portrayed by Miss A's Suzy, T-ara's Eunjung, 2PM's Taecyeon and Wooyung, and IU, with many other cameos by idols such as SS501's Hyunjoong, 2PM's Nichkhun and JYP's JOO. Well, that pretty much spelled idol-overload already. Not forgetting Bae Yong Joon and Park Jin Young acting as headmaster and English teacher respectively!

Hyemi, Suzy's character, is a rich man's daughter who is forced to give up her dreams of joining Juilliard when her family goes bankrupt. She instead finds herself having to audition to enroll in Kirin Art School to pay back her father's debts. She fails her audition but somehow her best friend, Baekhui (Eunjung's character) passes the audition. They left the place on a bad note by ending their friendship.

Hyemi was given a conditional offer to be a student in Kirin and she soon finds herself between two guys (Taecyeon and Kim Soohyun) vying for her heart, as well as being the target of the entire student body's wrath, no doubt initiated by her ex-bestie, now a rival and arch-enemy.

There is also another couple to look out for, IU and Wooyung's characters, Pilsuk and Jason. Their budding romance is a definite laugh inducer as Pilsuk is the chubbiest girl in school while Jason is an exchange student from the United States.

There are many scenes where the idol cast sing their heart out and I couldn't stop watching in awe at their good singing chops as well as their acting skills. They really could sing with all their heart!

The biggest question in Dream High is who will Hyemi choose in the end? And will Pilsuk and Jason end up together? Tune in to KBS World on ASTRO Channel 391 at 9pm every Monday and Tuesday to catch all the drama between the students!

The author would like to recommend the OST of Dream High as it features the idol cast of the drama. Suzy's Winter Child and IU's Someday are her two favourites off the soundtrack.
