Big Bad Wolf Books Warehouse Sale 2013
Before I leave for South Korea and come back with lots of stuff and pictures to post on my blog, I'm gonna post about the upcoming annual Big Bad Wolf Books Warehouse Sale 2013 in December first!
For those not in the know yet, the warehouse sale will be held at MIECC, The Mines from 6 to 15 December 2013 and the best thing this time round is that they will be open for 230 hours straight. That means 24 hours book shopping! Whee!! Super cool for K-drama freaks like me who hate missing my drama episodes for book shopping!
As always, make sure you have lots of time to spare before you go in, since you'll spend lots of time poring over books to buy (there's 3 million books to choose from!), and bring some recyclable bags, trolleys and water too!
For more info, hit up their website here!
They will also have contests in anticipation of their warehouse sale, so if you are keen to win preview passes to get in the venue ahead of others, make sure you follow them on Facebook or Twitter!
The author is freaking out that she'll overspend her budget this year, no thanks to her South Korea trip and Big Bad Wolf Books Warehouse Sale!

Big Bad Wolf Books Warehouse Sale 2012
The Big Bad Wolf Books sale is back again this year from 7 to 23 December to give us a huge discount on books! This round the warehouse sale promises 3 million books at 75% to 95% discount, at an even bigger venue than last year's, and to top it off, it is easily accessible too!
Held at the Mines International Exhibition Convention Centre from 9am to 9pm daily, it's directly next door to the Mines Shopping Centre in Seri Kembangan! It's a short walk away from the nearest KTM station, and there are ample parking spaces at the exhibition centre and the shopping centre too.
From my own experiences, for those who plan to buy lots of books, do park in the exhibition centre itself as they have porters who can help to cart your books with a trolley to the exhibition centre's lobby area, where you can drive up to collect your books. Make sure you do have a pass to drive up the lobby area though!
On the other hand, if you are not planning to buy lots, parking in the shopping centre is cheaper, as it's only RM1 on weekdays. It's RM3 on weekends though, which is the same as the exhibition centre. I am not trying to discourage anyone, but do try not to park in the open carpark area outside the exhibition centre, as they charge an exorbitant fee of RM5, which is a high sum since you have to walk so far with your loot of books!
This year's fiction section and children's books are quite well-stocked, so do give yourself some time to browse through the massive selection. Do bring along some water with you as you might find yourself parched after an hour's search for books (what with all the lugging of boxes of books around too!).
Do check out their official website for more information at Big Bad Wolf Books!
The author spent 3 hours shopping at midnight on the first day of the sales since they were open for 63 hours straight. Rest assured that she did not go home with empty hands, instead her whole car boot was full of books at the end of the day!

Cecilia Ahern's The Gift

What would be the perfect gift to give to your loved ones for Christmas? For Lou Suffern, he couldn't care less about what he got them for the special day since he's to busy with work to bother about these little details.
He didn't know that a small gesture of offering his hot coffee to a homeless man who sits outside his office building would turn out to be the best gift that he ever gave to a person, at the same time benefiting Lou and his family.
The homeless man's name is Gabe, and he tells Lou about the people who walks in and out of the building everyday, precisely describing their shoes and daily clock-ins and clock-outs. Intrigued at the man's talent for spotting details, Lou got a job for Gabe in his office's mailroom.
Slowly Lou began to despise Gabe for his quick reflexes at work which made him look like he's not the best worker in the office anymore. But Lou also has more problems, he has to much work to bother about his family anymore. Trouble begins as he has to be at more than one place at the same time.
Gabe gave him a supposedly magical pill which helped him to split himself into two, thus being able to be in two places at the same time. He's confused the day after, but somehow the events at both places come straight into his mind clearly. Could he just dreamt about being in two places at once?
Cecilia Ahern manages to weave heartfelt messages, action and suspense in this book's plot and hopefully she will continue write many more good books.
The author first read Cecilia Ahern's P.S. I Love You, cried so much while reading it and has been collecting her other books since then.

J.D. Robb and her addictive 'In Death' series

Usually I am into chick-lit books, but recently an author named J.D. Robb caught my attention with her action and thriller ‘In Death’ series.
Born In Death was the first book that I read from the series. Eve Dallas the detective and her businessman husband Roarke, captured my attention as they shine as a couple who worked closely together to solve crimes in the city of New York.
What intrigued me was Roarke’s character had a dark past and he was possibly involved in crimes himself, yet Eve still has a strong confidence in sharing her work details with him.
In this book, Eve and Roarke race to save heavily pregnant Mavis, Eve’s best friend, who was kidnapped.
Creation in Death was my second book off the series, and this one definitely had me craving for more! The suspense and race against time kept me turning page after page and I had a hard time putting it down.
I got addicted to the storyline, so much so that I even started playing detective by putting together clues and trying to guess who the culprit is.
My advice to all suspense-loving readers out there is: go get yourselves a J.D. Robb book now!
The author intends to collect all books in the ‘In Death’ series, and will start scouring for them this coming Friday at the Big Bad Wolf Books Sale.

Vampire Themed Books To Satiate Your Thirst

I strolled into a bookstore today while I was out shopping, and noticed that the books on the shelves were mostly black in colour.
At first glance, I dismissed them as books from Stephenie Meyer’s popular Twilight Saga series, but at closer inspection it seemed that these books were targeted at teens that had not gotten over the Twilight fever yet, and are still eager for more vampire themed titles to satiate their thirst for fictional stories.
Even classics such as Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights were not spared by the current publishing craze. These titles have been reproduced with covers that looked like those of the Twilight Saga series, and they do look good, I admit.
But I could not help wondering whether publisher should go till the extent of extorting classics such as Little Women by Louisa May Alcott by adding blood, gore, and vampires into the storyline. Yes, they do draw in the teen readers, but would they get the opportunity to appreciate the real essence of these famed titles?
A quick browse on Google also showed that there were many vampire-related websites which offered more stories for the reader of Twilight who still couldn’t get enough of vampires. Many other book series have spawned from this phenomenon, and my opinion is as long as the content is good, readers will develop a good following, and become fans of the author’s works.
The author thinks that books that are riding on the bandwagon of the Twilight Saga series’ success should try not to have similar cover themes as every book’s cover should reflect its contents.
